I graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University, where I majored in Philosophy and English. While a student, I was involved in an organization that held spoken word poetry workshops. I became president of this organization and through this was able to help students improve their writing and public speaking skills. While a student at Syracuse, I received a scholarship for my work in the humanities. I also became a tutor for ESL high school students. I enjoy tutoring because of the future impact my students might one day have on society. I strive to help my students achieve success, not only in the immediate future on their papers or tests, but in their life in general. If I can help them succeed in life, then that gives me joy and hope for our future. As a tutor and educator, I try to engage my students and ensure that they thoroughly understand the material. I want them to understand the "why" and not just the "how" of what they are studying. I tutor in Reading, Writing, Essay Editing, Phonics, Literature, Grammar and Mechanics, Philosophy, Public Speaking, and Test Prep. I enjoy writing in my free time, as I am a published fiction writer. I also enjoy reading and taking walks.
